Kızım İstanbul’da evimize yakın bir anaokuluna gidiyordu. Ben çalıştığım için erken yaşta okula başlamak zorunda kaldı. Eindhoven’a taşınma kararı alınca 2 yıldır gittiği okuldan ayrılmak hepimize zor geldi. Tüm alışkanlıklarımızdan ayrılıp yeni bir maceraya atıldık.

Ev arama sürecimiz de temel nokta kızımın okuluna yakın bir evde oturmaktı. Düşüncemiz international  bir okula göndermekti, okulun yakınından ev aramaya başladık ama bize ev aramakta  yardımcı olan asistan “niye oraya göndermek istiyorsunuz? Eğer burada kalmayı düşünüyorsanız Felemenkçe öğrenmesi onun için daha iyi olur” dedi. Bu civarda bildiğim iyi bir okul var diyerek bizi şu an okuduğu okula getirdi. Randevu aldık ve görüşmeye gittik. (Türkiye’de ki gibi çat kapı gitmedik 😊)

Okula geçen sene mayıs ayında başladı. (Okullar sürekli tatil oluyor, Türkiye’nin adı çıksa da bu ülkenin okul tatil günleri daha fazla)  Burada ilkokul sınıfları 1-2 aynı sınıfta oluyor  3. sınıfta okuma yazma öğreniliyor. Bir ve ikinci sınıflar Türkiye’nin anaokuluna denk geliyor.

İlk hafta okula gitmek için can atıyordu ama sonra kabus dolu günler başladı. Her gün ağladı “okula gitmek istemiyorum anne, ne dediklerini anlamıyorum” diyordu. Bu süreç 1 aya yakın sürdü ama sonra alıştı. (Bu süre çocuktan çocuğa değişiyor 1 günde alışan çocuk da gördüm 😊)  (Türk anasının göbek adı karşılaştırmalı analık 🙂

Ben ve eşim için oldukça zor geçen bu süreçte Ne Yaptık ?

• Hiç Türkçe çizgi film izletmedik,
• Bol bol Hollanda’lı çocuklarla iletişim kuracağı ortamlara götürdük,
• Haftada 2 gün bir oyun ablasıyla anlaştık, okul çıkışlarında bizim eve gelip kızımla oyun oynayıp bol bol Flemenkçe kelime öğretti.

Hollanda’ya yeni gelenler genelde  ilk eğitim yeri olan Wereld Wijzer’a gidiyor.(https://www.wereldwijzereindhoven.com/). Peki sen neden oraya göndermedin diyorsanız? Benim bu okuldan çok sonra haberim oldu, oraya gitse  daha mı iyi olurdu bilemiyorum ama şimdi okulunu çok seviyor.

School Days in the Netherlands

My daughter was going to a kindergarten near our home in Istanbul. I had to start school early, because I was working. When we decided to move to Eindhoven, it was difficult for all of us to leave the school she had been attending for 2 years. We separated from all our habits and embarked on a new adventure.

The main point of our search was to live in a house close to my daughter’s school. Our idea was to send it to an international school, we started looking for a house near the school, but the assistant who helped us search the house said, “Why do you want to send Dutch goverment’s school. If you plan to stay here, it’s better for him to learn Dutch.” She said that there is a good school in this neighborhood and she brought us to the school she is studying. We made an appointment and went to the meeting. (We did not go on the roof door in Turkey as 😊)

He started school in May last year. (Schools are constantly going on vacation, Turkey’s in this country more than the school holidays) primary grades 1-2 is happening here in the same grade 3 literacy learned in the classroom. And a second is equivalent to Turkey’s kindergarten classes.

The first week was eager to go to school, but then the nightmare-filled days began. He cried every day, “I don’t want to go to school, mom, I don’t understand what they say.” This process lasted close to 1 month, but then he got used to it. (This time is changing from child to child.

What have we done in this process, which is quite difficult for me and my wife?

We never watched Turkish cartoons,
We took her to places where she could communicate with Dutch children,
Two days a week, we agreed to play with her sister, she came to our house after school and played with my daughter and taught me lots of Dutch words.

New arrivals in the Netherlands usually go to Wereld Wijzer, the first training place (https://www.wereldwijzereindhoven.com/). So why don’t you send him there? I’ve heard about this school a long time ago, I don’t know if it would be better if he went there, but now he loves his school.
